Nitin Gadkari Emphasises GNSS For Efficient & Transparent Toll Collection

Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has stated that the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for toll collection will play a pivotal role, being effective, viable, and environmentally sound. He made these remarks while addressing an International Workshop yesterday in New Delhi on GNSS-based electronic toll collection in India.

Mr. Gadkari emphasized the moral and economic importance of toll payment, stressing the need for equilibrium in the system through quality services. He highlighted that an integrated approach is essential, along with behavioral change, to ensure a robust system. He warned against the exploitation of the public and suggested creating monthly passes for car owners to ensure smooth toll collection.

Mr. Gadkari expressed concerns over tendencies to circumvent laws and called for a transparent, qualitative, and effective system. He underscored the necessity of eradicating loopholes in the toll collection system and called for the development of indigenous technology.
